To ignite the American spirit, the Museum proudly welcomes artist Mateo Blanco. Known for his unique renditions of the American flag using uncommon textiles and materials, Blanco will present another artistic twist on “Old Glory” at the Boca Raton Museum of Art in celebration of Labor Day. On Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 12:00 to 4:00 pm, Blanco will host an in-gallery workshop, Creation Station, where visitors are invited to create their own personalized American flag art.

Blanco’s “Hopi Girl” is on display from March 15 through July 14, 2024, as part of the museum’s exhibition, “The Figure: Selections from the Permanent Collection.” The piece features a young Hopi girl created entirely out of recycled rope Blanco found while sitting on a Florida beach.

Nationally acclaimed artist Aaron T Stephan revealed a significant new public installation titled “Paths Rising” in the Main Terminal at Tampa International Airport.
This 30 ft. wide suspended sculpture consists of over 650 tapered ladders framed by a glowing oculus of gold leaf.
“Paths Rising” will serve as an exciting new anchor point for arrivals and departures from Tampa Bay.
The work is inspired by the vibrant culture and natural beauty of the region – while its form, color, and overall dynamic speaks to the airport’s theme of atmosphere.
