Digital art has a rich history that spans several decades. The earliest forms of digital art can be traced back to the 1960s, when artists began experimenting with computers as a medium for creating visual art. One of the first artists to work with digital technology was John Whitney, who used a computer to create abstract animations in the 1960s. Whitney’s work laid the foundation for the development of digital animation and set the stage for other artists to explore the potential of computer technology.

In the 21st century, digital art has become a global phenomenon, with many artists using evermore powerful digital tools to create a wide range of art forms, including video art, installation art, and interactive art. With the advent of the internet and social media, digital art has become more accessible than ever, allowing artists to share their work with a global audience.

Despite a global pandemic and a devastating war just a few kilometers from two of the project’s partner countries – Poland and Lithuania – the first European edition of the MArteLive Biennial finally comes to an end with the announcement of the winners in the 16 artistic disciplines in the competition.

This concludes the long path of scouting and selection of the 16 best European emerging talents discovered out of over 1100 entries from 47 countries including 27 members of the European Union and 20 neighboring countries because art has no borders and barriers but is open to all.ย 

The MArteLive Biennial is officially over, but the activities will continue! Next MArteLive Biennial scheduled for October 11-20, 2024.

Internationally recognized artist and filmmaker Annalaura di Luggo unveils “Collรฒculi” – her most artistic challenge!

“Collรฒculi” is an immersive, multimedia interactive work made in the shape of a Giant Eye from recycled aluminum. The symbolism of recycling is both suggestive of environmental rebirth as well as the deeper meaning of taking old thrown away emotions and creating new, more positive views through new eyes.

COLLร’CULI WE ARE ART by Annalaura di Luggo is currently on display at al National Archeological Museum of Naples MANN (Italy) until January 2023.

Former co-director of the Swiss Camera Museum, Jean-Marc Yersin started out as a professional photographer.

Since 2018, he has returned to his first passion, continuing a cycle of images that inspired him thirty years earlier. He frames tightly, in black and white, motorway structures, factories and mountain buildings.

The compositions are geometric, contrasted, sharp. There is no human presence. The forms are abstracted from their functions. The silence is absolute.

These are photographs under tension. They show the conflict between the built environment and nature, between concrete and the landscapes.
