Brief History of Digital Art

Digital art has a rich history that spans several decades. The earliest forms of digital art can be traced back to the 1960s, when artists began experimenting with computers as a medium for creating visual art. One of the first artists to work with digital technology was John Whitney, who used a computer to create abstract animations in the 1960s. Whitney’s work laid the foundation for the development of digital animation and set the stage for other artists to explore the potential of computer technology.

In the 21st century, digital art has become a global phenomenon, with many artists using evermore powerful digital tools to create a wide range of art forms, including video art, installation art, and interactive art. With the advent of the internet and social media, digital art has become more accessible than ever, allowing artists to share their work with a global audience.

VESTIGES OF THE FUTURE: Photography of Jean-Marc Yersin

Former co-director of the Swiss Camera Museum, Jean-Marc Yersin started out as a professional photographer.

Since 2018, he has returned to his first passion, continuing a cycle of images that inspired him thirty years earlier. He frames tightly, in black and white, motorway structures, factories and mountain buildings.

The compositions are geometric, contrasted, sharp. There is no human presence. The forms are abstracted from their functions. The silence is absolute.

These are photographs under tension. They show the conflict between the built environment and nature, between concrete and the landscapes.

The Great Spadolini – Dance, Art & Espionage

The Spy with License to Dance โ€ฆ and Paint!

This isnโ€™t a fictional book by Ian Fleming, nor an imaginary film about the worldโ€™s most famous secret agent.

The โ€œJames Bondโ€ weโ€™re talking about here is Italian, and his name is Alberto Spadolini (1907 โ€“ 1972).

He was sexy and daring like 007, surrounded by fascinating women and celebrities of the international jet set, continually moving between different milieux โ€“ showbiz, politics, sophisticated circles, and war scenarios.

The only difference is โ€“ he was real.

Exclusive Interview with Dave Vescio โ€“ Part 3 | Break The Rules

Part 3 of our Exclusive Interview with Dave Vescio may be The Best One Yet!

This time Dave, an Ex-Con, a Movie Star, and an Award-Winning Artist, talks about perhaps the most important subject of all โ€“ Creativity.

Hereโ€™s a taste: “Just focus on creating art and getting it out into the world anyway you can. Thatโ€™s all that matters. If you want to sell it, sell it, if you want to give it away, then give it away, if you want to store it and hope someone takes it after you die, then do that too. Either way, focus on creating the art that you want to create in this moment in time. Thatโ€™s all that matters, thatโ€™s all there really is. Everything else is just an illusion of false realities of what we think life is, but actually isnโ€™t.”

Changing How The World Sees Art

To get more out of looking at and creating art there are two easy-to-learn concepts combined by the masters of painting that have rarely been published together – until now.

Discover simple ideas that are changing how the world sees art, and revealing a visual language that has been hiding in plain sight.

The combination of asymmetrical balance and the brightness/weight illusion is a reintroduction, from the Modernist period, of a way of seeing the world and art like an artist. Like learning to play a musical instrument (or balance a bicycle), it takes practice to coordinate all the parts.
