Nicole Martinelli didn’t just reinvent herself as an artist — she invented an entirely new art form. Today, as an internationally represented artist with Toolip Gallery in Vienna, Austria, Martinelli stands at the forefront of a remarkable creative journey that has carried her work across Europe and the United States.

With more than 45 juried exhibitions spanning Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, and the United States, a major solo exhibition in Manhattan, and works exhibited alongside some of the most celebrated names in contemporary art, her moment has unmistakably arrived. After severe health challenges affected her ability to paint traditionally, Martinelli refused to abandon the creative life that had defined her for years. Instead, she pioneered an entirely new artistic medium: the Hand Painted E-Painting. Using a stylus as her brush and a touchscreen monitor as her canvas, she creates luminous, nature-inspired works that preserve the intuition and emotion of traditional painting while embracing the possibilities of contemporary technology.

“As an E-Painter I am essentially incorporating my previous painting skills as an oil painter,” Martinelli explains. “I create my E-Paintings organically from my mind. I do not believe in being used by the technology — I believe in using it to my advantage.” That philosophy — transforming limitation into possibility — has become the foundation of her career.

Martinelli is represented internationally by Toolip Gallery in Vienna, Austria, a milestone that marks an exciting new chapter in her growing international presence. She also maintains a close professional relationship with Primo Piano Living Gallery in Lecce, Italy, where she made her Italian debut — an exhibition that opened the door to her continued presence throughout Italy’s contemporary art scene.

Her work has appeared alongside renowned artists including Yoko Ono, Louise Bourgeois, Yayoi Kusama, and Shepard Fairey, while additional exhibitions with Rossocinabro Gallery have brought her work to audiences throughout Italy, including Barcelona Contemporary 2025 and Firenze Contemporary 2026.
