Internationally acclaimed abstract expressionist artist Vian Borchert is currently exhibiting a significant collection of her signature large- and medium-scale blue paintings at the renowned Watergate Gallery in Washington, D.C., as part of the major summer exhibition “American Mosaic.” Running from June 27 through August 29, 2026, the exhibition commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States of America while celebrating the nation’s diversity, unity, and shared cultural identity.

Located within the iconic Watergate complex at 2552 Virginia Avenue NW, the exhibition places Borchert’s celebrated blue abstractions prominently before visitors, with the first eight works featured on the gallery’s exhibition presentation belonging to the artist. The exhibition brings together artists whose work reflects the richness and complexity of the American experience through a wide range of artistic perspectives.

Widely recognized for her signature blue abstract paintings and expressive abstract seascapes, Borchert’s work explores themes of hope, renewal, contemplation, and humanity’s enduring connection to nature. Inspired by the Mediterranean Sea, where she was born, her paintings combine energetic brushwork with lyrical color and atmospheric compositions that invite viewers into what the artist describes as “visual poetry.”

“My expressionist work is primarily composed of abstractions inspired by the natural world and my enduring love of the sea, particularly the Mediterranean, where I was born,” Borchert said. “Through these poetic visual narratives, I seek to evoke feelings of serenity, elevation and reflection while offering a vision of a more harmonious world through art.”

The exhibition arrives during a milestone year for the United States, making Borchert’s emphasis on unity, reflection, and shared human experience especially resonant within the broader themes of American Mosaic. Her distinctive blue palette has become one of the defining characteristics of her artistic practice, earning recognition from collectors, galleries, museums, and publications around the world.

A graduate and Notable Alumni of the Corcoran College of Art and Design at George Washington University, Borchert has participated in more than 100 exhibitions worldwide, including solo and group exhibitions across Europe, Asia, and North America. Borchert serves as Art Lead for the Oxford Public Philosophy Journal, based at Oxford University in the United Kingdom.

Her artwork has been exhibited internationally at venues including the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, Times Square in New York City, Medinaceli DeArte Museo Contemporáneo in Spain, The SAM Museum in Pennsylvania, Bank Art Fair in Seoul, South Korea, Art3f Monaco, AVA Art Festival in Osaka, Japan, the World Bank in New York City, the Venice Biennale, Art Basel Miami Beach, the 1stDibs Design Center in New York, the Watergate Gallery in Washington, D.C., along with numerous private collections. Her work has also appeared in more than 100 publications, including World Art News, Museum Week Magazine, Artist Weekly, and The Washington Post. Borchert was recently recognized by MSN as one of the “Top 10 Most Creative Artists.”

The Watergate exhibition is one of several major international exhibitions featuring Borchert’s work in 2026. Simultaneously this summer, her artwork is also on view in Madrid, Spain, in the exhibition “Acts of Translation” at Occo Gallery, located near the Prado Museum, from June 29 through July 4, 2026.

Looking ahead, Borchert’s international exhibition schedule continues throughout 2026. Following her simultaneous exhibitions in Washington, D.C., and Madrid, she will present selected paintings in London as part of the group exhibition “Fragments of Presence,” on view from August 5–11, 2026, at Espacio Gallery, located at 159 Bethnal Green Road, London E2 7DG, United Kingdom.

Later in the year, Borchert will participate in the “Social Justice” exhibition at the Venice Biennale from October 14–24, 2026, before returning to Paris later that month for the International Paris Vernissage at the prestigious Carrousel du Louvre, taking place October 23–25, 2026.

The breadth of these exhibitions underscores Borchert’s continued international presence and marks 2026 as a significant year in her artistic career, with exhibitions spanning North America and Europe, culminating in appearances at some of the art world’s most recognized international venues.

The “American Mosaic” exhibition remains on view at the Watergate Gallery through August 29, 2026. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
