From local to international, artist Amarachi Okafor has a knack for using the culture that surrounds her to create powerful messages that reflect the human condition.

Now, after 20 years of accolades and achievements, Okafor reflects on the global culture while continuing to draw inspiration from what is happening around her, in Nigeria and all of Africa and the experience of the people that live there as she prepares for a solo exhibition in October at the Red Door Gallery in Lagos.

Drawing from area culture and communities, Amarachi Okafor’s work embodies the Nigerian spirit while showcasing a global talent.

In honor of The Hyde Collection’s sixtieth anniversary in 2023 of its opening as a fine arts museum, we are pleased to announce the exhibition Songs of the Horizon: David Smith, Music, and Dance.

Curated by Dr. Jennifer Field, Executive Director of the Estate of David Smith, this project will be the first museum exhibition to focus exclusively on the indelible influence of music and dance on Smith’s work in painting, drawing, and sculpture.

The exhibition will feature approximately twenty-five loans from important private and public collections, the Estate of David Smith, and a selection of rare archival materials.

In the image of a young artist, BRAX explores and grows in its adventure journey, creating a series of stories in the dreamland, vividly presenting the value and adventurousness of the young generation.

BRAX is a forever 17-years-old character keeping its identity hidden by wearing a doll costume.

It can be a character representing any of us in society. This 17-year-old teenager starts his own journey with its costume, arouses the resonance of young artists on the way of creation, and brings back memories of their youth.

SaiakuNana and Ignatius Rake declare ‘Punk Rock Forever’

Celebrated Japanese artist SaiakuNana, who has exhibited her work in Tokyo, London and New York, has joined forces with award-winning Cornish animator and filmmaker Ignatius Rake to produce a music video that documents her must-see gallery in London’s East End before it closes this coming July 17.

“I became a fan of SaiakuNana’s work the moment I saw it at the Watari-um gallery in Tokyo,” Rake says.

“I was immediately struck by the power and vibrancy of her paintings, which combine the kawaii aesthetic of modern Japanese popular culture with the raw energy of punk rock and abstract expressionism.”

In 2018, SaiakuNana won the Grand Prize at the 21st Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art, the Japanese equivalent of the UK’s Turner Prize.

650 LADDERS – Aaron T Stephan’s Sculpture “Paths Rising” Installed at Tampa International Airport

Nationally acclaimed artist Aaron T Stephan revealed a significant new public installation titled “Paths Rising” in the Main Terminal at Tampa International Airport.

This 30 ft. wide suspended sculpture consists of over 650 tapered ladders framed by a glowing oculus of gold leaf.

“Paths Rising” will serve as an exciting new anchor point for arrivals and departures from Tampa Bay.

The work is inspired by the vibrant culture and natural beauty of the region – while its form, color, and overall dynamic speaks to the airport’s theme of atmosphere.

As always, Vivienne, aided and abetted by Ida Faerber, has scoured the globe for independent, under-the-radar designers, each with a strong concept, a well-defined design direction, individualistic point of view and sophistication of craftsmanship and use of materials.  She explains too that as a historian she particularly appreciates designs that acknowledge and respect the long and rich history of the jewel, its rituals and traditions, while at the same time challenging perceptions of the role and meaning of the jewel. The styles represented in the 2022 Designer Vivarium, as always, are all very different from each other, showing the breadth, depth and versatility of expression in today’s world of contemporary jewellery.

Known for her signature black and white drawings, Martin’s work investigates themes of intersectionality, identity, and play. Through her continual exploration of the spontaneous hand-drawn line, Martin facilitates new connections between fine art, design, education, philosophy, technology, and the reciprocal relationship between artist and viewer, in which a work of art is more than an object of admiration.

Digital Gallery at WOW Summit Dubai Witnesses Major NFT Sale on the First Day of the Exhibition.

WOW summit commenced on the 13th of March with three full days of blockchain, metaverse industry news. The ‘Alternative Reality’ exhibition was curated by Daria Lomova, an art advisor and historian.

One of the main aims of the WOW summit was to raise public knowledge and awareness of the sweeping world of blockchain, crypto, AI, NFTs and beyond. That is why it was important for Lomova to curate an exhibition that people could relate to, while learning about the different digital art forms.
