Its purpose is to save artifacts and artworks by combining science with art. Recently, The World Art News had the pleasure to interview its President, Venizelos G. MEDEA Contemporary Art Exhibition curated by Demetrio Paparoniย

The exhibition includes works by 17 artists created specifically on the theme of Medea,ย one of the most famous and controversial characters in Greek mythology. It reveals the extent to which the story of the sorceress, infanticide in Euripidesโ€™ย narration, still affects the imagination of our times. Through the unprecedented gazeย of contemporary artists from different geographical areas โ€“ from Northern Europe toย China, from the Caucasus region to South-East Asia, as well as Italy โ€“ the exhibitionย highlights the inseparable link between Siracusa and ancient theatre. Classical tragedy is thus revived in Siracusa through contemporary artistic expressions also in theย field of visual arts.

Dubaiโ€™s vibrant art scene welcomes Erma Gallery, a multidisciplinary art space for experimentation in art and technology. Erma will be supporting both upcoming and accomplished artists in showcasing their work, through technology driven exhibitions set to rouse spectators.

โ€˜0x The Gardenโ€™ โ€“ is a form of analysis and a way to reconsider classical heritage through contemporary representational approaches. The exhibition includes works made using lenticular printing, classical paintings and digital art. Olga Tobrelutsโ€™s paintings are filled with fantastic floral arrangements. Each detail of the pieces is a space for infinite associations; the colors and blossoms can be pondered as a puzzle of one’s own consciousness. Previously, Olga Tobreluts work has been displayed in museums and galleries all over the world, including Tate Modern and V&A Museum in London, the MoMA in New York, the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg and many others.ย

“This business is not for the fragile. It has its up and downs, with incredible highs that border on euphoria to deep depressive downs. Financial preparation is always the biggest challenge. You can never have a big enough war chest, so you need to be smart with the capital you deploy. And capital is not just financial, but emotional and professional capital that you need to be smart with. The story of Dumisani Ndlovu is one of hardship, perseverance, and passion. Born and raised on a substance farm in a rural area in Zimbabwe, Dumisani’s natural talent for art was evident from a young age. Despite the challenges of farm life, he continued to draw and create using materials found in the bush. After attending art classes, he eventually graduated from the Mzilikazi Art and Craft Centre and fell in love with the craft under the guidance of a Canadian artist. Although he struggled financially, he never gave up on his dream and continued to work tirelessly to perfect his craft. Today, Dumisani is a well-respected artist whose work is inspired by nature and tells his own story.

1960s Portraits of Famous Artists by Renowned TIME & LIFE Magazines Photographer Ben Martin are Now on View at Artplex Gallery, LA

Ben Martin (1930-2017) covered wars, fashion, politics, arts, business and sports for Time, Life, Fortune, People and Sports Illustrated for thirty-three years. He covered Martin Luther King during the Selma to Montgomery Civil Rights March, took the infamous sweaty five-o’clock shadow photograph of Richard Nixon during the Kennedy-Nixon TV debates in 1960 that Nixon claimed cost him the election, and photographed Timeโ€™s now famous โ€œSwinging Londonโ€ cover story. He photographed major cover essays on the 25th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy and 40th anniversaries of Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima, the Mozambique civil war from both the rebel and Portuguese sides and an arctic expedition to the North Pole. His photograph of President John F. Kennedyโ€™s funeral led to a Life magazine cover, and his coverage of Pope Paulโ€™s trip to the Holy Land was a cover feature in Time.
