Internationally Acclaimed Artist Ella Spira MBE Launches an Immersive Multimedia Art Exhibition in Singapore

On Thursday, 3 November 2022, the Grammy-nominated British composer, artist and co-founder of production company Sisters Grimm, Ella Spira MBE, will launch her latest art project, โ€˜Global Landscapes Singaporeโ€™ at Art Now gallery, in the Raffles Hotel Arcade, unveiling her work as a visual artist. The exhibition will be opened to the public with no tickets required on the 4th and 5th of November.

Spiraโ€™s Singapore work has already proved popular with collectors. Singapore-based and Chinese investor Jack Tao fell under the spell of Ella Spiraโ€™s Banyan Tree painting and recently acquired it for ยฃ250,000. He went on to commission Spira to create the Global Landscape Singapore.

Artist Talk with Boglarka Nagy at the International Biennale for Contemporary Art from Central Europe.

The young painter Boglarka Nagy is representing the new generation of painters, who are concentrated on figurative art.

In July she visited the Transylvanian artist village Cisnadioara near Sibiu, where she is representing Hungary at the International Biennale โ€œDanube Contemporary 22 โ€“ Shapes and Personalityโ€.

In discussion with an audience of art connoisseurs from France, England, Greece, Switzerland, Germany and Romania, Nagy described her work as a permanent strive for excellence.

The global Art market is undergoing change as the world continues its progression towards globalization. That specific change is the diversification of a predominantly Western Art market. This is phenomenal, but itโ€™s also about time because it means that the Art market is finally beginning to include and value Art of all the different cultures that make up humanity. Women in Art: A glimpse into Central & Eastern Europe

Whilst women have always been an essential topic in the visual arts they have historically been excluded from the entire artistic canon. That is not to say that women have not participated in the creation of Art, rather that the Western canon solely includes the work of men. To be more specific, the Western artistic canon includes and values the works of Western men only.

One might think that it makes perfect sense the Western Art canon is inclusive of male artists considering the fact that the first wave of feminism only begun around the late 19th century. So, before that, women werenโ€™t really a part of many industries. Also, as stated in the name, the western Art canon is in fact โ€œwesternโ€ and does not proclaim to be the โ€œglobalโ€ art canon.

Stone is demanding in its application to art and architecture, requiring great effort and discipline to procure, move, and fashion. It is a subtractive process, where any mistake can prove fatal to the intended product, requiring meticulous care and attention to detail. The inherent properties of stone are that it is insulative, with generally low heat conductivity, and durable, with high compressive strength. As with all things in life, while it retains varying degrees of vulnerability to weathering and deterioration, stone is generally considered to be one of the most resistant materials in existence. These properties lend themselves to a compelling philosophical argument, that those who wish to live a life or build a world of enduring strength and beauty, should not only employ the use of stone in their craft, but model themselves after it as well.
