‘The Fabric of Bell’ an Art Collection by npz studio+ and Sebastien Courty at Bell Works in Holmdel, NJ Honors its Profound and Special History

Paola Zamudio of npz studio+ wanted to elevate the arts to new heights in celebration of the iconic Bell Works to honor the buildingโ€™s rich history of innovation, so as the Lead Designer and Creative Director of Bell Works, she brought on friend and New York-based artist, Sebastien Courty for an unforgettable project. Amazed by the buildingโ€™s grandeur and stylistic architecture, they were soon commissioned thereafter by Ralph Zucker, in honor of Jozef and Jonathan Straus, to create The Fabric of Bell, a subcollection from the in-house art collection of Totem, A Wallโ€™s Jewelry. Inspired and commemorating the historic original Bell Labs, which was previously a research facility and awarded eight Nobel prizes during its tenure, the project was an innate expression and tribute to Eero Saarinen, the architect of the lavish Bell Works building.

The highly anticipated NordArt 2023 exhibition brings forth an extraordinary collection, unveiling a selection of ANTOINETTE’s remarkable artworks from her renowned picture cycle, “Myth of Europe.” Notably, the exhibition proudly presents drawings featuring towering figures reaching an impressive height of 2.5 meters. Over the past two decades, NordArt has firmly established itself as a prominent fixture among European art fairs, attracting an estimated 100,000 art enthusiasts from Germany and beyond. Spanning an expansive area of more than 20,000m2 indoors and 80,000m2 outdoors, this year’s event promises ample room to showcase a portion of ANTOINETTE’s captivating 250-piece art cycle, “Mythos Europa.”

They say opposites attract and similarities repel, however, some beg to differ, and in reality, mash ups and diversity always create unique and beautiful creatures. This holds true and is the case proven with decadent artworks in the exhibition, The Perfect Storm, a quintessential collection by Katrin Fridriks and Jan Kalรกb debuting at BC Gallery in Basel. Together, Katrin and Jan have found the ultimate sweet spot of their individual artistic expression to radiate into a new realm with breathtaking pieces evoking sensory stimulations, where you canโ€™t look away and become happily lost within its movements and colors.ย 

GOING BEYOND – Pushing the Boundaries of Textiles and Ceramics at Taste Contemporary

Taste Contemporary is thrilled to present “Going Beyond,” a captivating two-person exhibition that showcases the extraordinary works of textile artist Michael Brennand-Wood and ceramic artist Anne Marie Laureys. These two artists, who have been closely associated with the gallery since its inception, are known for their ability to transcend the conventional and redefine the possibilities of their chosen materials. Held at Cromwell Place in London, this remarkable exhibition opened to the public on May 30th and will continue until June 4th, 2023.

โ€œThis exhibition is inspired by colors, and shapes which could be found in underwater life. So is the significance of the exhibit title refers to hidden, and very fragile treasures of mother nature. It is my first solo show with Regina gallery in Korea, though weโ€™ve worked together for three years before this, however, due to the pandemic, naturally, our plans were postponed until this moment. This show encompasses entirely new work, and are paintings assembled from multiple canvases to create organic compositions; mostly, relief canvases, and one suspended installation,โ€ says Jan about the show.

Braille Transformed into Art: Fulvio Morella’s Exhibition in Rome

Following its acquisition by the Braille Museum in Milan, Morella brings a collection of works to Rome that delve into the very essence of limitations. At the heart of the exhibition lies OCULUS, a remarkable chalcography paying homage to Rome and the profound human ingenuity embodied by the Pantheon. True to Morella’s artistic style, OCULUS is enhanced and “completed” by a Braille inscription, translated into French, English, and Italian, which reads, “Not always closed eyes sleep, not always open eyes see.” Additionally, showcasing his interest in the artistic process, the artist offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into this ambitious project, presenting the magnesium matrices and preparatory works created from 2021 until present alongside the final artwork.

MEDEA Contemporary Art Exhibition curated by Demetrio Paparoniย 

The exhibition includes works by 17 artists created specifically on the theme of Medea,ย one of the most famous and controversial characters in Greek mythology. It reveals the extent to which the story of the sorceress, infanticide in Euripidesโ€™ย narration, still affects the imagination of our times. Through the unprecedented gazeย of contemporary artists from different geographical areas โ€“ from Northern Europe toย China, from the Caucasus region to South-East Asia, as well as Italy โ€“ the exhibitionย highlights the inseparable link between Siracusa and ancient theatre. Classical tragedy is thus revived in Siracusa through contemporary artistic expressions also in theย field of visual arts.

Erma Gallery Opens in Dubai with Olga Tobreluts First Solo Exhibition in the Middle Eastย 

Dubaiโ€™s vibrant art scene welcomes Erma Gallery, a multidisciplinary art space for experimentation in art and technology. Erma will be supporting both upcoming and accomplished artists in showcasing their work, through technology driven exhibitions set to rouse spectators.

โ€˜0x The Gardenโ€™ โ€“ is a form of analysis and a way to reconsider classical heritage through contemporary representational approaches. The exhibition includes works made using lenticular printing, classical paintings and digital art. Olga Tobrelutsโ€™s paintings are filled with fantastic floral arrangements. Each detail of the pieces is a space for infinite associations; the colors and blossoms can be pondered as a puzzle of one’s own consciousness. Previously, Olga Tobreluts work has been displayed in museums and galleries all over the world, including Tate Modern and V&A Museum in London, the MoMA in New York, the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg and many others.ย 

Vivienne Becker’s Jewellery Designer Vivarium at GemGenรจve

This May, the Designer Vivarium is set to return to GemGenรจve, featuring five international contemporary designers, with four of them being new to the Vivarium, presenting their work at GemGenรจve for the first time. As usual, the Designer Vivarium is curated by renowned jewellery historian, Vivienne Becker, who meticulously scouts the globe for fresh and creative talent, seeking out independent, under-the-radar designer jewellers, artists, and goldsmiths who have something unique to offer in their jewellery. Becker’s discerning eye seeks out a strong, singular creative vision, intense individuality, and sophistication of craftsmanship.

Automata & Music Exhibition featuring Genevaโ€™s Museum of Art and History (MAH) Objet d’Art Collection

In partnership with GemGenรจve, the Museum of Art and History (MAH) is organizing an off-site exhibition featuring exceptional automata, musical, and other objets dโ€™art from its collection. With a policy of promoting art and culture that dates back to the 18th century, MAH is now one of the leading museums in the world. This May, 25 small to medium-sized works of art created at the turn of the 19th century will be exhibited by MAH in an exclusive temporary display that will be open to GemGenรจve visitors. The show will also feature works on loan from the International Museum of Horology at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Swiss sculptor and automaton maker Franรงois Junod, as well as GemGenรจve exhibitors.
