Amref Health Africa’s ArtBall and Auction Honors Artist Julie Mehretu and the Power of Ethiopian Youth 

On February 25, 2023 at 26 Bridge in Brooklyn, NY, Amref Health Africa will host their annual ArtBall event  and adjoining art auction, creating a connection between African culture and philanthropy to celebrate and  highlight the talent of the African continent. This year Amref Health Africa will honor world-renowned  Ethiopian artist Julie Mehretu with the Rees Visionary Award. 

ArtBall features a Contemporary African, Pan-African, and Black art auction, entertainment, food and  beverages from award-winning Black-owned vendors, an installation, and an award ceremony, and has grown  from just over 300 attendees to nearly 800, with an emphasis on the African diaspora. Honus Wagner, also known as “The Flying Dutchman” was a professional baseball player who played shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1897 to 1917. He is widely considered one of the greatest players of all time and was one of the first five players to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937. Off the field, Wagner was known for his humility and sportsmanship. He was respected by both teammates and opponents for his gentlemanly behavior and fair play.

One of the most interesting facts about Wagner is that he was the first baseball player to have his own baseball card. The T206 Honus Wagner baseball card is considered to be one of the most valuable and rarest cards in existence.

Sarine signs an MOU to acquire a majority stake in New York’s Gem Certification & Assurance Lab (GCAL)

Hod Hasharon (Israel), 11 January 2023 – Singapore Exchange Mainboard listed Sarine Technologies Ltd (“Sarine” and along with its subsidiaries “the Group”) (U77:SI; SARN.TA), a worldwide leader in the development, manufacturing, marketing and sale of precision technology  products for the evaluation, planning, processing, measurement, grading and trading of diamonds  and gems, is pleased to announce the signing of a non-binding MOU to purchase, subject to the  usual due diligence reviews and to reaching and executing a definitive agreement, a majority share  of GCAL against an all cash consideration.

The Gem Certification & Assurance Lab, Inc. GCAL is a highly respected gemological laboratory  founded in 2001 by Mr. Don Palmieri, a veteran of over 50 years in the diamond industry, and his  wife, Pamela. Atlanta Hawks and Novelis unveil 404 lbs upcycled aluminum sculpture to celebrate their Award-Winning Partnership

ATLANTA – Before Wednesday night’s game, the Hawks and Novelis unveiled “FULL COURT PRESS”, a sculpture made up of nearly 404 lbs. of upcycled aluminum cups and cans in the shape of the primary Hawks logo. The piece is located on the Terrace level by the Gate 2 entrance at State Farm Arena.

“FULL COURT PRESS” celebrates the one-year anniversary of the Hawks’ partnership with Novelis, the world’s largest recycler of aluminum, which officially launched on National Recycling Day in 2021.

This sculpture symbolizes a circular economy where maximum effort is employed to make sure precious resources are recycled and reused, rather than discarded as waste.

This year, Guadalajara International Book Fair, the most outstanding meeting of the Spanish-language world, invited the UAE city of Sharjah as a guest of honor. It is the third largest of the seven Emirates and is considered to be the cultural capital of the Arab world by UNESCO.

Biennale MArteLive Announces Winners of 16 Art Disciplines and Establishes as Only Multidisciplinary Festival in Europe

Despite a global pandemic and a devastating war just a few kilometers from two of the project’s partner countries – Poland and Lithuania – the first European edition of the MArteLive Biennial finally comes to an end with the announcement of the winners in the 16 artistic disciplines in the competition.

This concludes the long path of scouting and selection of the 16 best European emerging talents discovered out of over 1100 entries from 47 countries including 27 members of the European Union and 20 neighboring countries because art has no borders and barriers but is open to all. 

The MArteLive Biennial is officially over, but the activities will continue! Next MArteLive Biennial scheduled for October 11-20, 2024.
