Breaking Down Elements Behind Sascha Fonseca’s Award-Winning Wildlife Photo “World of the Snow Leopard”

The indigenous peoples of the Indian Himalayas call them “the ghost of the mountain.” The moniker fits; with its thick, whitish-grey fur that blends perfectly with its icy local habitat, the snow leopard seems made for camouflage. This is not, however, enough to protect it from poaching or the ruinous effects of climate change. Not only are snow leopards difficult to findโ€”there are now fewer of them to see. This is why the snow leopard is the subject of the photograph that won Sascha Fonseca the Wildlife Photographer of the Year People’s Choice Award. The London Natural History Museum hostsย this photography competitionย to highlight the connection between photography, science, and art.

ANTOINETTE: Altar of Europa 3.0 – Art Museum in the Metaverse | INVITATION

The artist ANTOINETTE, together with her technology partner BizzTech, have created a photorealistic museum space ofย  unprecedented image quality in the Metaverse for the ALTAR of EUROPA. The ALTAR of EUROPA is a real existing, 100m2 drawing consisting of millions of individual pencil strokes created by ANTOINETTE during three years of work . The image density of this monumental work of art is an ideal example to demonstrate the power ofย the browser-based multi-polygon technology used. In the digital world, every detail of the drawing becomes visible and perspectives and sections can be explored that would not beย accessible when visiting the physical exhibition. In this virtual space, museum visitors, regardless of their location, meet with theirย digital twins, their avatars. With their avatars and an integrated translation tool, visitors can communicate about what they see and what moves them, without being restricted by language barriers.ย

Exclusive Interview with Tom Glynn – Part 2 | Assembling Life

What makes your art unique? “My paintings, sculptures and assemblages are potentially unique as Iย explore the narrative of everyday events and issues, historical journeys,ย the paradox of objects and the abstract qualities of both landscape andย  the built environment. Direct responses to landscape are significantย recurring themes. I work with a multitude of found objects, materials andย  techniques within the scope of painting and sculpture, in order toย harness the mystery and visual excitement created by juxtaposition,ย visual memory and spatial configurations – the surrealist and dadaย  placement of objects and images. Themes and visual ideas oftenย  explore incongruity, archaeological qualities, visual ambiguity, pictorialย and real space, political irony, symbol and humour, resulting in a wideย  range of outcomes made from expressively applied paint, collage,ย  assemblage, wood and objets trouvรฉs that yield a profusion of colour,ย texture, form and spatial complexities.”

Exclusive Interview with Tom Glynn – Part 1 | Making of an Artist

Tom Glynn is a rare breed: an artist who can move effortlessly between artforms, materials, scales and registers, equally adept at making miniature paintings andย  monumental sculptures. And yet all of his work is unmistakably English in mood.ย  His images are populated by the countryโ€™s Neolithic monuments and pastoral landscapes, and informed by the many artists who inhabited those places before him.ย  Glynn is driven by the same Romantic spirit that motivated Palmer and Turner, Nashย  and Piper, Wallis, Lanyon and Hockney, but his art is never anything but his own. Itย  is, after all, underpinned by an urge that has coursed through his veins since he firstย  stepped foot in a sandpit.ย

Artificial Intelligence on Art Investing

The World Art News is continuing its art exploration of the Worldโ€™s Leading Artificial Intelligence system โ€˜ChatGPTโ€™. This time we decided to find out what AI knows about Art Investing. Keep in mind that this entire article was written by a machine, we just asked it the right questions and added some headlines.

“One of the main benefits of investing in art is its lack of correlation with the stock market. While the stock market may experience fluctuations, the art market has its own set of independent factors that can affect prices. This means that an investment in art can potentially provide a hedge against economic downturns.”

JDL Unveils 40-Metre Mural ‘Icarus’ in Rome to Raise Awareness for Environment

Judith de Leeuw (JDL) – a well-known Dutch street artist who’s art appeared all over the world – has unveiled her imposing new 40-metre mural entitled “Icarus”, created for the Street Art for Rights Forum Festival on the north-east wall of the Corviale building in Rome, the famous “Serpentone”, one of the “most symbolic” walls in the capital.ย

This new masterpiece – on one of the city’s largest walls – bears a reference to the myth of Icarus. Icarus is the man who, heedless of his own limitations, flew too close to the sun with wax wings and fell into the sea. A metaphor for a profit-blinded society that is heading for self-destruction, aiming to have the most today, heedless of the future.ย
