Biennale MArteLive Announces Winners of 16 Art Disciplines and Establishes as Only Multidisciplinary Festival in Europe

Despite a global pandemic and a devastating war just a few kilometers from two of the project’s partner countries – Poland and Lithuania – the first European edition of the MArteLive Biennial finally comes to an end with the announcement of the winners in the 16 artistic disciplines in the competition.

This concludes the long path of scouting and selection of the 16 best European emerging talents discovered out of over 1100 entries from 47 countries including 27 members of the European Union and 20 neighboring countries because art has no borders and barriers but is open to all. 

The MArteLive Biennial is officially over, but the activities will continue! Next MArteLive Biennial scheduled for October 11-20, 2024.

Takeaways from a Record-Breaking Early Auction Season

Collection sales dominated headlines of another record-breaking fall auction season, while the emerging market feels the pressure of economic worries.

With art market prices soaring as of late, recent blue-chip auctions were projected to reach significant high-flying, record-breaking heights. Not only did these lots deliver, but in some instances their price tags surpassed their monumental estimates. The highly anticipated Paul Allen collection, the personal assortment of paintings and sculptures owned by the late Microsoft co-founder, blew past the $1 billion estimated value, which already would’ve made his collection the most expensive ever sold.

While some say the results of the Phillips auction suggests a cooling of the market, works of personal collections, especially those hidden from public view for prolonged periods of time are doing exceedingly well.

Celebrated Nigerian artist Amarachi Okafor highlights Ecological Disaster

Well-known for the powerful messages conveyed across various media, Nigerian-based artist Amarachi Okafor decided to tackle a large-scale ecological disaster created by countless small, discarded cigarette butts in her latest work.

Now that effort will be featured in an upcoming exhibition “Announcing beauty, mercy, kindness and love” a rare retrospective exhibition chronicling 20 years of practice by the critically acclaimed Nigerian artist and curator. The exhibition opened October 29 at the Lagos’ Red Door Gallery, and will be open until November 19, 2022.

The symbolism of recycling is both suggestive of environmental rebirth as well as the deeper meaning of taking old thrown away emotions and creating new, more positive views through new eyes.

COLLÒCULI WE ARE ART by Annalaura di Luggo is currently on display at al National Archeological Museum of Naples MANN (Italy) until January 2023.

Said Dokins’ light installation ‘Refraktur’ dazzles audience at the 2022 Querétaro Experimental International Public Art Festival in Mexico | VIDEO

Throughout the summer months of June until September, Mexican contemporary artist Said Dokins presents ‘Refraktur’ as part of the Querétaro Experimental International Public Art Festival.

The festival will show the work of over 200 artists across a wide range of disciplines, including music, theatre, dance, performance and sculpture. 

‘Refraktur’ is a site-specific installation built out of glass, metal, reflexive materials and LEDs that will be placed on the Madero boulevard in the center of the Mexican city of Queretaro.

THE HYDE Collection Brings Bolton Landing Sculptor Back Home To The Southern Adirondacks In Celebration Of Its 60th Anniversary

In honor of The Hyde Collection’s sixtieth anniversary in 2023 of its opening as a fine arts museum, we are pleased to announce the exhibition Songs of the Horizon: David Smith, Music, and Dance.

Curated by Dr. Jennifer Field, Executive Director of the Estate of David Smith, this project will be the first museum exhibition to focus exclusively on the indelible influence of music and dance on Smith’s work in painting, drawing, and sculpture.

The exhibition will feature approximately twenty-five loans from important private and public collections, the Estate of David Smith, and a selection of rare archival materials.
